Back and Forth

I am a huge fan of DIY projects. However, I can't seem to find a store that caters to what I need. I am looking for a place that sells fabric, tile, and paint samples. Maybe some sort of outlet store? I don't know.

Also, how much is it to get a sewing machine? What is an average price? After researching some DIY tips, I feel as though I can create so many dresses/tops from thrift stores. If I can learn how to take things in....I will never purchase a clothing item over 20 dollars ever again. Why spend an arm and a leg on something that cost way less to make???

Any ideas? Suggestions? Please help!

On Repeat.

I saw Kimbra at the Aragon this past Tuesday. She opened for Gotye....I honestly didn't expect anything from her. As soon as she came on the stage, I found myself nodding along to the beat. Her booming voice and quirky movements shook the room. That girl has a set of lungs on her, INSANE lungs.

And she is an Aussie. Cool, cool chick.

Recent Happenings

I'll admit. I have not been on here for a loooong time. School became a major priority....among other things. Here are some things that I have noticed in the fashion world.

Top Five Fashion Ideas for Spring:

1. Seafoam Green....it's everywhere! Nail polish, pants, jewelery, even make up. I wouldn't overdue this color. A little splash of green here and there and you will look super cute.
2. Have you seen someone wear a bright red top and purple bottoms? (I'm thinking SJP's outfit when she was on Jimmy Falon, I believe?) Well, although it may seem a little out there, color blocking is becoming very common now. So go out there and wear that yellow shirt with those green pants! I know it may be a little uncomfortable, but who cares? Be daring :)
3. Twists and braids. If you don't know how to do this, I suggest you youtube it. I did that, and now I can do lots of different styles. It's very easy and quick to do. A little braid/twist can go a long way!
4. Gold, gold gold! HUGE statements pieces are in! You can find reasonably priced jewerly on etsy.com, forever 21, and francescas.
5. Oversized tops. Now you can look cute AND comfy! I would suggest wearing leggings or skinny jeans. If you pair this with jeans that are wider on the bottom, be careful - you might give the appearance of more weight.
